Today was a brilliant effort from the Bradford Ladies, with a mighty team of six taking on the feisty Ben Rhydding ten! A wise decision was made to play half a pitch, seven-a-side, in 15-minute quarters , a sensible compromise for such a heroic mismatch.
Nimrit was a rock in goal, making sharp calls and working seamlessly with Seren to build a solid defensive wall. Amelia spent much of the first half launching fearless attacks, seizing every chance to strike at goal, but with little support up front, each effort skimmed just wide.
After a motivating and encouraging team talk (and a borrowed player from the opposition!), Bradford stormed into the second half with fresh determination. Erin came alive on the right wing, weaving beautifully through defenders like she’d been waiting all game for this moment. Emma took full advantage of the new shape, slotting home our first goal with precision and flair.
Now Bradford was on fire, if a little breathless! With new energy up front, Amelia finally found her mark and slammed the ball into the back of the net. Seren, holding steady at the back, continued to send powerful balls up field, giving the forwards every chance to attack.
In a final burst of determination, Kate charged for goal, but while the ball narrowly missed, her face, unfortunately, didn’t. She walked away with a well-earned black eye!!
All in all, it was a cracking game, friendly, fun, and full of spirit. Everyone left with smiles, a few bruises, and plenty to be proud of.
Final score: Ben Rhydding 6 – Bradford 2.
